DEWA sends two employees to University of Rochester for Science and Technology in New York
(14 May 2017)

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) sent two DEWA employees to New York, USA, from 15 to 20 May 2017. They will join a delegation of 17 employees from various Dubai government organisations, to attain their Masters of Science degrees. The programme has been organised under the patronage of Smart Dubai Office and Dubai Silicon Oasis, in cooperation with the University of Rochester for Science and Technology. The programme will educate students about best practices in smart city development in New York. It also allows for students to exchange knowledge and take advantage of global expertise, and learn about the latest smart innovations from experts in smart city development.

“In adherence with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and to achieve the objectives set by the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021, DEWA sent two of its employees to attain their Masters in Science degrees at the Rochester Institute of Technology, to take advantage of the best practices and experiences. This will enable students to gain experience and global expertise, while qualifying them to become the next generation of creative leaders, to drive the sustainable development of the Emirate. This reflects DEWA’s efforts to support the vision of the wise leadership, to strengthen government services, and achieve the Smart Dubai initiative, to transform Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA is committed to developing its human resources while enhancing their skills. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum once said, ‘Government employees are the engines of our achievements. They are the energy that fuels our development.’ DEWA provides continuous support to national talent, in adherence with its Emiratisation strategy, to develop a new generation of leaders. DEWA is committed to enhancing the innovative abilities of the youth, to support us in our journey to achieve our vision and ambitious plans,” added Al Tayer.

DEWA has become a role model to government organisations in the UAE for launching training programmes for Emirati nationals who aspire to study at home and abroad, in the fields of energy and water, and renewable energy. Through this, DEWA aims to facilitate innovation, anticipating the future, and smart city development.
