Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum toured the Waterfront Market in the Dubai district of Al Hamriya. The partially opened state-of-the-art facility includes a fish market, a fruit and vegetable market, a meat and poultry market, a variety of wholesale and retail shops, cafes and restaurants.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said that he was pleased with the market, which is considered a new shopping and tourist attraction that overlooks the Gulf. Along with the fresh food markets, there will also be a bazaar for retail, creating a one-stop shop for all customers. Restaurants, banks, coffee shops, a dried fruit and herb market, as well as an open facing promenade that looks out to the Corniche where shoppers can go for leisurely strolls, are also included.
Sheikh Mohammed inspected the adjacent fishing boat and water taxi piers, as well as the taxi reception area that will cater to tourists visiting the market, boasting underground parking for 1,200 cars.
His Highness emphasized the importance of indoor shopping centers in serving the needs of the public and providing a perfect atmosphere for families.
Ithra Dubai, a subsidiary of Investment Corporation of Dubai, developed the Waterfront Market and Dubai Municipality operates it.
