His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), visited the Foundation’s headquarters (Tuesday, October 3, 2017) in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, accompanied by Deputy Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Their Highnesses viewed some of the Foundation’s top initiatives, greenlighting 25 projects submitted under the Dubai 10X Program, which were shortlisted from a total of 163 entries by a panel of private-sector experts.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of DFF, accompanied HH Sheikh Hamdan and HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed on their visit, along with DFF’s Acting CEO HE Abdullah bin Touq and the Dubai 10x team at the Foundation.
The Dubai 10X Program, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai at the World Government Summit, back in February, ushers in a new era of government work, where officials prioritize the community and people’s happiness, and establish future forecasting as a central component of government activities.
The Dubai Future Foundation is working with other government entities to embrace disruptive innovation as a fundamental mantra of their operations and to seek ways to incorporate its methodologies in all aspects of their work and place Dubai 10 years ahead of other cities. The first requirement for the participating entities was to create independent X-Units whose mandate is finding ways to disrupt their own organizations practices and develop their own moonshot solutions. The second requirement is trial and scale radically disruptive organizational structures, systems and technologies. And thirdly, to partner with and facilitate disruptive solutions and remove regulatory obstacles.
