Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has briefed a delegation from the Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi about its best practices in the field of Compliance Management; a key pillar of RTA’s corporate governance. Compliance Management is particularly important in fostering the culture of sustained monitoring of compliance with the rules and regulations governing the business of RTA, thus contributes to realising the targeted performance.
“Receiving the delegation of Abu Dhabi’s DoT is part of RTA’s keenness to share knowledge & expertise with government entities nationwide. During the visit, a visual presentation was made defining Compliance and highlighting its importance & relevance to corporate governance along with its role in boosting accountability and transparency. Discussions also outlined the compliance with legislation, the role of the concerned regulatory bodies and RTA’s policy & procedures relating to Compliance Management,” said Abdullah Al Jawi, Director RTA’s of Internal Audit.
“The Compliance Management system is part of the effective enablers of corporate governance characterizing the RTA. RTA’s Compliance Management practices are comprehensive, pioneering and unique as they are aimed to set out seamless monitoring of compliance with rules & regulations and enhance the risk management resulting from the lack of compliance. The objective is to increase the efficiency, maintain the performance level to match expectations, and realize the objectives,” he added.
At the end of the visit, the two parties engaged in Q&As, which were very rich in content. Discussions covered the key topics of Compliance Management and its prospects in the public sector as well as its positive impacts on corporate performance. The delegation commended RTA’s experience in this field and confirmed that they had benefited from the presentation and discussions made.
