The Building Licensing Department of Dubai Municipality, in coordination with universities of the country, is studying launching a project to add a specialised course that caters to the conditions and requirements of the comprehensive design, encompassing all categories, including the People of Determination (People with disabilities) and the elderly, in university courses which are studied by students of architecture.
The move is part of its efforts to achieve the vision of the wise leadership and is in line with the efforts of the Dubai government towards an inclusive society in which the People of Determination will be able to live happily and comfortably.
"This will contribute to ensuring that future engineers are equipped with the knowledge required by the local labour market, reflecting a positive image and effective education in this field," said Dawood Al Hajiri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, adding that the study is based on the corporate values of Dubai Municipality, and its belief in the importance of the role played by the youth in the development of society.
He pointed out the municipality’s continuous efforts to implement practices that contribute to the Emirate's strategy in supporting the People of Determination.
"The course will help students to meet their needs and contribute to supporting the government's goal of integrating and empowering them. It is also in line with the community-based initiative, 'My Community is a Place for All' launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to transform Dubai into a city friendly for the People of Determination by 2020," said Al Hajiri.
