As a step forward to make Dubai the smartest city in the world, Dubai Police General Command has signed an MOU with Acacus Technologies, to have driverless patrol vehicles on Dubai roads by 2020. The driverless vehicles are planned to be on Dubai roads phase-wise. The first phase will have capabilities including cameras and video analytics. Whereas the subsequent phases will include object detection, tracking, and advanced driverless technology.

The MOU was signed by the General Command of the Dubai Police department, Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and Founder & CEO of Acacus Technologies Mr. Talal Ben Halim in presence of Rashid Ahmed Bin Rasheed, Chairman of Board of Acacus Group, Major General Engineer Mohammed Saif Al-Zafin, Assistant Commander-in-Chief Operations, Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al-Razzouqi, Director of Administration General for Transport and Rescue, his Deputy Brigadier General Ahmed Shahil, directors of the departments sub-departments General for Transport and Rescue and number of officers.
Speaking on the occasion of signing the MOU, the Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri said: This MOU is in compliance and directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai world’s smartest city by harnessing technology in the service of all and with best international practices. The Dubai Police General Headquarters are keen to adopt and implement best in class technology to service everyone, combating crime and reducing it. Also with the focus on increasing the productivity of our services”.
