RTA Donates Two Buses, 400 Schoolbags To Pupils In Tanzania And Uganda
(29 March 2018)

A delegation from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) visited a number of schools in Uganda and Tanzania under the theme, "Dubai Reaches out to Africa’ where two school buses, 400 bags containing school supplies and 50 bicycles were provided in cooperation with Al-Futtaim Motors and Dar Al-Beir Society in Dubai. This formed a part of the "Global Contributions” of the RTA Charity Foundation and also an extension of the ‘Year of Giving’ and the ‘Year of Zayed’; bearing lofty human values.

Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, RTA Board Member and Chairman of RTA’s Charity Foundation High Committee said, "The visit to Uganda and Tanzania reflects RTA’s commitment to making charitable activities overseas in cooperation with Al-Futtaim Motors and Dar Al-Ber Society in Dubai. Two buses were donated such that each bus will serve several schools. 50 bicycles were distributed to students in both countries assisting them with transportation in rugged areas, which is a lofty educational message that we seek to realise. Moreover, each school was granted 200 school bags that include school supplies and essentials in a bid to support the needy in remote areas.

Dr Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation and Vice Chairman of the Higher Committee of RTA Charity Foundation, who accompanied the delegation during the visit to both countries, said, “The delegation included volunteers from the RTA who were known for their charitable contributions to encourage their voluntary efforts all over the world. The gesture motivates those volunteers to increase their humanitarian efforts and their social responsibility; which concurs with RTA’s strategies. During the visit, copies of ‘Father of Our Nation’ Book, which contains collected quotes of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, were distributed to students in both countries. The aim is to raise the awareness of the lofty human values, charity, tolerance and love values instilled and advocated by the late Sheikh Zayed in the hearts of Emiratis. Copies of Salama Magazine were also distributed to nurture the traffic culture in the minds of students.

The delegation also visited some orphanages and transport authorities in Tanzania, as well as mosques in Uganda, including Sheikha Aliaa bint Sultan bin Suroor Al Dhahri Mosque, Al Salam Mosque and Maryam Mohammed Ali Al Shehhi Mosque, which were built by Dar Al Ber Society. The visiting delegation also learned about the customs and traditions in both countries, which boosts bilateral ties and charitable links between all parties.
