Dubai Municipality will hold the second Scientific Innovation Forum in cooperation with educational institutions in the emirate on Thursday at the Dubai Municipality.
Talib Julfar, Assistant Director-General for Environment and Public Health Services Sector, said that the forum aims to achieve the strategic objectives of the municipality to become an innovative municipality and a global leader.
"We seek to involve all the different sectors of society in decision-making, the most important of which is the education sector, by motivating them to research, read, and think to explore the best and most intelligent and sustainable environmental solutions and practices to adopt them within our mission and strategic objectives," he said.
"Dubai Municipality is keen to adopt the wise directives issued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to make innovation and excellence as a method and culture in the development of all areas and services of government work as innovation today is not an option, but a necessity," Julfar added.
Abdulmajeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department, said that Dubai Municipality, in cooperation with the relevant educational institutions, has discussed issues related to environmental and public health services and supported their scientific researches.
"This forum aims primarily to build an effective strategy with the educational institutions and to develop the talents, abilities and cognitive skills of the student community as well as to create a conscious and educated generation that is aware of the importance of environmental sustainability, in addition to have the involvement of educational and research institutions in decision-making in cooperation with government agencies and institutions in the emirate," Saifaie said.
The forum will be held with the participation of the British University in Dubai, the Higher Colleges of Technology for Men, the Higher Colleges of Technology for Women, Zayed University, and the American University of the UAE.
