Dubai Municipality on Sunday organised a book exhibition at its headquarters as part of the Month of Reading during the Year of Zayed.
"The event is in line with Dubai's Municipality's efforts to instill love of reading and gaining knowledge among employees and customers and investing for their minds and culture and motivating them to read and learn as food for the soul and as a key to innovation and human progress," said Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, who inaugurated the book exhibition in the presence of the assistants to the Director General, department directors and employees of various organizational units in the Municipality.
The book exhibition, titled, "Reading in the Year of Zayed," was organised by the Knowledge Management Department with the participation of the Environment Department in the Municipality Headquarters.
Lootah stressed the prominent role that the Municipality plays in promoting the activities of the Month of Reading, through the development of diversified reading related events and activities aimed at the various segments of the society.
"It addresses various interests and is a motivation to develop the habit of reading as a lifestyle, so that they form an authentic daily exercise. We organize events and programs focused on reading on specialized knowledge, which is aimed at employees in various work sectors. The Book Exhibition is aimed at making reading a sustainable public phenomenon in a festive atmosphere," he said.
