Majid Al Futtaim – the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia – is celebrating the occasion of Chinese New Year in line with Dubai’s Retail Calendar, with stunning lion and ribbon dances, acrobalance performances, and a show stopping drumming act at City Centre Deira from 15 - 21 February. Additionally, City Centre Deira will reward one lucky shopper with a daily prize of AED 5,000 from 15 – 24 February 2018.
“Dubai has a sizeable contingent of Chinese nationals and the emirate is an increasingly popular destination among tourists from the country. As a favoured shopping destination in Dubai, located in the heart of Dubai, with direct access to the metro and connected to leading hotels, City Centre Deira is the ideal location for residents and tourists to celebrate this auspicious occasion. Majid Al Futtaim invites shoppers of all nationalities to join the festivities created specially to mark Chinese New Year, in line with our vision to create great moments for everyone, every day”, said Majed Al Fahim, Senior Mall Manager at City Centre Deira
Shoppers can enjoy heartwarming traditional Chinese performances across the entire mall from 5:15PM, 6:30PM, 8:00PM, and 9:15PM.
Recent tourism statistics have stated that with Chinese outbound tourism set to double from 2016 to 2021, Dubai is looking to position itself as one of the world’s most popular destinations among Chinese tourists. In the first nine months of 2017, 573,000 Chinese tourists visited Dubai, marking a 49% year-on-year rise and ranking the country fifth in terms of top tourism source markets. The significant growth can be attributed to the introduction of new laws granting Chinese visitors visas on arrival in the UAE in September 2016.
Alongside music and dance at City Centre Deira, visitors can expect great prize giveaways and instant prizes from 15 - 24 February. Shoppers who spend AED 300 and above at the mall, will be able to enter a prize draw in which AED 5,000 will be given away daily.
