RTA opens 5 new bus routes, improves others

The Public Transport Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching on this April 15 five new bus routes in Dubai, and introducing improvements on 13 others. The move is intended to boost the public bus network in the Emirate in line with RTA’s endeavours to public transport riders happier, and match the growing demand for public bus service in particular.

The five internal new routes start from bus stations scattered in various parts of the Emirate of Dubai, according to Adel Mohammed Shakri, Director of Transportation Systems at the Public Transport Agency.

“The first of these new routes is Route (F02), which starts off Al Fahidi Metro Station, heading to Al Karama via Al Mankhool and Burjuman. Other routes include (F16) from Noor Bank Metro Station heading towards the new Al Quoz Residential Area, (F17) from Noor Bank Metro Station to Al Khail Gate residential area and (F42) from Ibn Battuta Metro Station to Discovery Gardens, in addition to Route (E301), an inter-city bus service that starts from the Stadium Metro Station to the new Al Ta’awon Station, Sharjah,” explained Shakri.

“The Agency has also improved 13 Routes as follows: Extending Route (F54) to UAE Exchange Metro Station, (F05) to Arabian Center,  (F03) to Mirdiff  East, (F26) to Al Quoz Bus Station, (F46) to Dunes Village, (99) to Jebel Ali South, (F47) to Expo 2020 Office (F33) to Al Barsha Mall Bus Station. The Agency has also improved the headway (service frequency) in other routes by increasing the headway of Routes (F08) and (F25), and reducing the headway of three other Routes (27), (C04) and (F43),” he elaborated.

“The Public Transport Agency has always been keen on broadening & improving the Dubai Bus network and the Inter-City Network. From time to time, the Agency carries out studies & surveys to assess the needs of mass transit users in Dubai to address them at the earliest possible time.

“RTA also pays considerable attention to views & suggestions of all community spectrums as regards expanding the reach of public transport network. The Agency conducts field surveys where public transport riders can express their views and suggestions, which can also be communicated via RTA portal,” said the Director of Transportation Systems, Public Transport Agency.
