The Roads and Transport Authority has held a workshop to spotlight data management and its application in leveraging the smart corporate transition. Representatives of consultancy firms from the UK and Norway took part in the workshop, which attracted more than 50 employees from various sectors and agencies of the RTA. Holding this event is part of RTA efforts to keep pace with the global trends of corporate data management strategy in an effort to maximize People Happiness.
The workshop discussed several topics highlighted by core data management, data design, data stocks, smart business, corporate content management, core data management, descriptive data management, and data quality & governance management. A brief account was made about RTA’s drive in relevance to business and information and how to improve them, along with the highest global standards of smart mobility, smart city, connected mobility, internet of things and digital business models.
“The workshop, which was held by Data Management Section of the Department, stems from RTA’s recognition of the importance of data management,” said Abdullah Al Bastaki, Director of Technology & Strategy Governance, Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, RTA. “Data management is considered in itself a corporate asset, especially as RTA is migrating to an information-based management methodology. In keeping with the latest trends, information is becoming an asset much more valuable & essential than physical and material assets,” he continued.
“RTA appreciates the anticipated benefits of data management along with the associated practices to be adopted in keeping with the Dubai Government drive and Dubai Strategy 2021. RTA’s Technology & Strategy Governance Department endeavours to realize the goal of People Happiness through holding workshops and benefiting from international experience in data management. Such efforts, we believe, would raise the awareness about the true nature of data management, and garner support for the strategic objectives of the RTA aligned with the smart transition policy of our government,” added Al Bastaki.
