(22 September 2016)

RTA’s Public Transport Agency is planning to upgrade the performance of seven public bus routes starting from September 25th, 2016. The move aims to enhance the happiness of bus riders and meet the rising demand for this service in the Emirate of Dubai.

Reflecting on the move, Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, Director of Planning and Business Development, RTA’s Public Transport Agency said: “the seven routes to be upgraded include: Route (17) starting from Al Sabkha Bus Station, which would now extend to serve the Dubai Police Residential Community at Muhaisna 4, and several other districts in the area. Route (32C) from Satwa Bus Station to Al Qusais Bus Station, which would now pass by Al Jafiliya Metro Station in both inbound & outbound journeys. Route (367) from Etisalat Metro Station to the International City (New Dragon Mart). Route (C7) from Abu Hail M/S to Dubai Healthcare City M/S, which would now have shorter service frequency between Union M/S and the Dubai Healthcare City M/S. Route (F1) from the Union M/S to Al Baraha, which would now serve main & external bus stops of the Union M/S on Omar bin Al Khattab Street. Route (F10) starting from Rashidiya M/S heading to Al Warqaa, which would now have more frequent bus service to Al Warqaa to serve additional districts at Al Warqaa 1. Route (X25) from Al Karama M/S to Dubai Outsource City through Dubai Silicon Oasis.

“Improving these routes is a quick response to the needs of mass transit users and in line with the growing mobility in Dubai following the rapid expansion of public transit means, especially public buses in the Emirate. Such improvements conform to the objectives of RTA’s third strategic goal i.e. People Happiness. RTA is committed to broadening and improving public transport network to bring them in line with the urban & demographic expansion in the Emirate. Improving the routes of public buses is one of the strategic objectives and key pillars of raising the rate of journeys made on public transit means through attracting more people to use mass transit means in their daily travels. The step is bound to be positive on the traffic movement and the cleanliness of the environment, thanks to the reduced emissions from private vehicles,” added Al Ali.
