Major General Khamis Mattar Al Muzainah, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation asserted that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, urges Dubai Police to be a civilized and advanced entity that upholds high international standards and foresee the future of the sector.
HE said that Dubai Police aims to contribute towards maintaining the safety and security of individuals and institutions, in line with Dubai's vision to build a model of a future city-based economy.
“In today’s digital age of increased connectivity through various devices, electronic security is of strategic interest to global cities. Any breaches in IT security can threaten the social and economic systems and potentially cause losses to the tune of billions of dollars,” HE added.
His remarks came on the sidelines of signing a memorandum of understanding between Dubai Police General Headquarters and "Comae" for exploring the possibility of memory-based artificial intelligence systems, as part of the Dubai Police projects at the future accelerators.
He explained that Dubai Police started its preparations for Dubai Future Accelerators when the initiative was launched by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Board Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, aimed at creating an integrated global platform to shape the future of strategic sectors and build economic value by accelerating businesses, embracing futuristic technical solutions and attracting the best minds from across the world to experience and apply their innovations in Dubai.
He added: “At Dubai Police, we are proud to participate in this global initiative that has proved its uniqueness since the announcement of the Dubai Future Foundation, which received requests for participation from over 2,200 innovative companies from 73 countries in less than a month. Launched in July 2016, the Dubai Future Accelerators programme has become more attractive among all the world's business acceleration programmes, and underlines the success of the strategic approach taken by the UAE in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship as a key driver of the economy of the future.”
“The initiative aims to identify solutions to the toughest sectoral challenges, and highlight the most important opportunities of the 21st century through the application of future technology. This allows Dubai Police to foresee the future by investigating cybercrimes and finding future solutions though automated system and seeking the support of electronic evidence experts to identify any potential sources of threat.”
As part of the MoU, Dubai Police will work on developing a unique system that will examine the network of random memory to accelerate work flow and shorten time. Currently, an expert has to visit the site of the incident and examine all hardware to determine which device was hacked, which takes considerable time.
The network examination of random memory, on the other hand, assures high speed monitoring to extract confidential numbers, decode them, identify malicious programs, find suspicious networks and other information that will help not only in addressing the situation, but also in identifying the culprits.
Dubai Future Accelerators programme has received an overwhelming response from innovative companies, entrepreneurs, leading accelerators, incubators and capital funds, such as 1776 and Y Combinator from Silicon Valley, which accelerated several of today’s leading businesses. It has also gained the support of the biggest business accelerator at Europe, Techstar, which nominated its most important companies to participate in the programme.
