HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), was delighted at RTA winning the Flag of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Program for Smart Government through the Smart Shelters initiative. The RTA team was honoured to accept the flag from HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council. Al Tayer noted that the RTA had succeeded for the third time running in taking the lion share of the awards of the Program; which bears a name so dear & close to our hearts i.e. HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.
“This is the second time the RTA is privileged with the Flag of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Program for Smart Government; as we were the first government entity to win the Flag in 2013 through the Express Metro Service. The RTA has once again come back with top honours, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the team and the immaculate preparation of nomination bids submitted to the Program,” said Al Tayer.
“The Smart Shelters initiative is part of RTA’s initiatives in support of the Dubai Government efforts towards implementing the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the world’s smartest city. It is also aligned with the efforts of encouraging people to use mass transit means in Dubai through transforming public transit means into smart facilities that provide additional channels for topping up fares, and providing instant information about journeys. The initiative has contributed to pushing up customers satisfaction rating to as much as 91% in 2016,” he explained.
Al Tayer announced the launch of Phase II of the Smart Shelters Project; which encompasses direct interaction with clients and the installation of surveillance cameras to step up the safety of users.
