The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has held a workshop for winners of the 9th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST), with the aim of benefiting from the experiences and projects that had merited them to win DAST Awards. The workshop also highlighted the most important lessons learned from sustainable transport, which has become a vital necessity in serving large communities, given the extensive developments taking place in transport and infrastructure sectors to meet the sustainable development requirements in all sectors.
Nasser Hamad Bu Shehab, CEO of RTA's Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector cum Chairman of DAST Higher Organizing Committee, said, “The committee had met with DAST winners from DEWA, Emirates Standards and Metrology Authority, Fujairah Police, AMITY University, Khalifa University and Ms Bakhita Al Ketbi, who won the Best Student Project Award category. The meeting discussed several issues underlining the winning of DAST with the aim of sharing their successful experiences with those interested in participating in the 10th edition of DAST.”
"By holding this workshop, we aim to exchange information, views and constructive feedback to develop valuable ideas about the best solutions & practices to improve sustainable transport in Dubai," added Bu Shehab. He lauded the great efforts put by participants in the Award, including governmental and semi-governmental entities as well as private institutions from all over the UAE, who were keen to display their achievements in sustainable transport.
"DAST Award is a practical manifestation of RTA's strategy of empowering its vision of providing Safe and Smooth Transport for All to keep pace with the upswing seen in Dubai in commercial, economic, tourism, real estate and other vital sectors. DAST had become instrumental to involving the business community as well as government, semi-governmental and private organizations in supporting RTA's efforts to achieve sustainability in all modes of public transport means,” added Bu Shehab.
Representatives of the winning entities of 9th DAST thanked RTA’s DAST team for organizing this wonderful workshop, which they considered a good opportunity to share ideas & suggestions, and know more about procedures & categories of DAST.
