The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took part in Zayed Humanitarian Work Day corresponding to 19 Ramadan, and this year’s edition marks the 13th anniversary of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The event, which is held in cooperation with Rawafid Center for Development & Education, and the Red Crescent in Dubai, is part of ‘Eid Joy’ initiative for the benefit of children & low-income earners. Shopping vouchers were gifted to Dubai Taxi female cabbies, and Ramadan Ratio to be distributed to 500 needy families in various parts of Dubai.
Moaza Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication cum Chairperson of RTA Women Committee, said, "We view Zayed Humanitarian Work Day as an exclusive charitable platform, especially as it coincides this time around with The Year of Giving 2017 initiative declared by His Highness the President of the UAE. RTA Women’s Committee has launched an array of distinctive initiatives this year, in coordination with the Rawafid Center for Development and Education and the Red Crescent in Dubai. Eid Joy initiative provides clothing to 100 orphan children from low-income families, where 30 female employees had volunteered to accompany those kids to buy clothes from a grand mall. They will also spend time with children to cheer them up during the upcoming Eid Al Fitr days. Helping needy children through charity fits well with the Islamic values, human dignity and civilised behaviour.”
“The RTA Women's Committee has also distributed shopping vouchers to female cabbies at Dubai Taxi Corporation who participated in Zayed Humanitarian Work Day. It has also distributed Ramadan supplies coupons to 500 needy families in Oud Mateena, Satwa, Hor Al Anz/East, Hatta, and Muhaisna, Including 100 families RTA Women’s Committee visited and 400 families who received the Ramadan Ratio from RTA’s volunteers. RTA pays considerable attention to disadvantaged families in Dubai and is keen on engaging them in the festive atmosphere of the holy month, particularly in maintaining their dignity in Ramadan,” added Moaza.
“Zayed Humanitarian Work Day symbolises the values of generosity and passion that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had been keen to instil in our hearts & minds until the UAE had become a global icon for a humanity free from ethnic, sex or religious discrimination. UAE nationals have learned the love of humanity from Sheikh Zayed, who advocated lofty goals aimed at giving relief to needy, disadvantaged and vulnerable communities everywhere,” added the Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication and Chairperson of RTA Women Committee.
