The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has briefed a visiting delegation from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs about the best practices of corporate governance adopted by the RTA. The visit conforms to RTA’s strategy of sharing expertise & knowledge with all Government entities in Dubai.
“The visit of the Directorate of Residency signals the keenness to identify the standards of governance & audit adopted by RTA, which nurture an environment conducive to integrity, transparency, justice and accountability. RTA has a rich legacy in this regard as illustrated by the numerous awards obtained. So visitors were keen to exchange views about corporate governance in a manner that serves the interests of both parties,” said Abdullah Al-Jawi, Director of Internal Audit of RTA.
The meeting started with a visual presentation about the organisational chart of RTA, and the organisational chart of organisational units overseeing governance practices.
The presentation shed light on the responsibilities of governance audit such as the assessment of internal audit systems of strategic activities with the aim of identifying the scope of governance audit under the annual audit plan. It also covered the provision of advice to organisational units in matters related to auditing & monitoring to ensure the compliance with the applicable rules, policies and regulations. It also examined the policies & principles of corporate governance and internal monitoring as well as the overall structure of combating fraud and Harees Program relating to reporting violations.
