His Excellency Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, has recently honoured Emirati young novelist Aysha Al Naqbi for her outstanding contribution to world-class literature.
In a meeting attending by Aysha’s father, Al Marri welcomed the 14-year-old novelist as the youngest member of the force’s Council of Young Leaders.
Aysha was just 13 when she published her debut English-language, young-adult fantasy novel, Blue Moon, which has been praised by authors and critics from all around the globe. She is currently working on her third novel which as she stated would be set in a fantasy world where a prince and princess live in their fancy kingdom.
Commenting on the honouring, Al Naqbi said it is a surreal feeling to be honoured by Dubai Police General HQ and to join their youth leadership council: “It is surely a great honour and a greater responsibility to be here,” “As the UAE steadily moves towards the Vision 2021, our leadership recognises the instrumental role that youth plays in the development of the country, and I am glad to see that youth empowerment is a top priority for Dubai Police leadership,” she said.
“I am glad to join the force’s youth council that works hard to ensure voice of the youth is brought to the table and to implement strategies that empower and engage youth in the development of the safety and security of the emirate,” the young Emirati novelist added.
