RTA Women’s Committee Holds 1st Summer Awareness Gathering Of Female Employees
(15 August 2017)

As part of its plan for this year, the Women’s Committee at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has held its first Summer Awareness Gathering to educate female employees about car maintenance and the importance of having a child seat onboard. The event conforms to RTA’s strategic vision of empowering working women in all respects, especially in matters related to life and professional career.

At the start of the gathering, Ms Moaza Al Marri, Director of Marketing & Corporate Communication, and Chairperson of Women Committee at the RTA stressed the importance of holding such events as they would reflect positively on mothers working in the RTA. “This gathering was all about matters we encounter in our daily life such as the need to deal with vehicles and having child seats onboard to protect our children from the risks of driving. The Women Committee offers child seats to new mothers at the RTA along with a guide; which reflects the keenness of the Committee to make female employees happier,” she said.

Khaled Saeed, from the Technical Inspection System, Licensing Agency, RTA, made a presentation highlighting key matters that need to be known under the caption: Road Maintenance Starts from the Safety of Your Vehicle. He focused on the importance of ensuring the vehicle is safe & free from faults, tyres are sound, and equipment are in place to cope with road emergencies.

The presentation touched on periodic maintenance of vehicles and under engine cover inspection. It also focused on checking engine & brake oils, battery & electric connections, driving compartment, safety belt, rear view mirror and fire extinguisher. Khaled also explained the symbols that may be displayed on the front screen, noting that studies revealed that 74% of women and 33% of men drivers used to ignore those symbols.

Baby Shop also made a presentation about different types of Child Seats along with their installation and use, and a raffle draw was made for purchase vouchers from Baby Shop.

At the end of the event, Moaza honoured the participants and praised their contribution to raising the awareness of RTA female employees about road safety and requisites of vehicle maintenance.
