RTA Sets Plan For Managing Traffic During Eid Al Adha Holiday In Dubai Downtown

The number of visitors in the district is expected to hit 350,000 per day


 

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has charted out a comprehensive plan for managing traffic movement, and mass transit modes in Dubai Downtown  during Eid Al Adha holiday. The plan aims to meet the needs of road users, and offer premium services ensuring safe and smooth mobility aboard public or private transit means. The RTA anticipates the number of visitors to touch around 350,000 persons a day.

Eng. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, Chairperson of the Traffic Management and Handling of Operational Plans during Annual Events Team, said, “The RTA has prepared operational plans to manage the traffic during Eid Al Adha holiday, a frequently congested period during this time each year.” 

“The plan covers Burj Khalifa district, where 30 directional signs will be installed to guide traffic and road users in several directions, be it from Oud Metha Street via Al Asayel Street, Zabeel Bridges via Happiness Street, or through the internal roads of the Business Bay to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. The objective of the plan is to ease the pressure on the Financial Centre Street and ensure smooth traffic flow during peak hours. The traffic signals of the Financial Centre Street and Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be monitored and controlled to ensure seamless flow of traffic during peak times," explained Metha.

Commenting on the organisational procedures of bus and taxi services, the CEO of Traffic & Roads Agency, said, "Buses and Taxi pick-up and drop-off points at the Mall will be increased, furthermore the number of Taxi will be raised up by 5% during peak hours compared to last year, to ensure the deployment of an additional number of cabbies. 

“An extensive campaign is currently underway to ensure a safe environment within the Right-of-Way covering the cleaning of roads, and public areas, bridges, underpasses, and the surrounds of affiliated projects. The move is part of the efforts to engage with the community in celebrating Eid Al Adha whilst reflecting RTA’s keenes to  in providing a clean & serene environment thus bringing satisfaction to the city’s populace and visitors descending from the UAE and beyond during Eids and other occasions,” added Maitha.

She noted that a team of competent engineers and technical inspectors would be on hand to manage the traffic on site during the Eid Al Adha holiday in coordination with Dubai Police and Emaar to ensure the implementation of operational plans and the execution of the required closures. Maitha wished all community members to have a very happy holiday marking the blessed Eid Al Adha.
