Dubai Culture Organises ’Joint Initiatives Between The UAE’s Cultural Entities’ Workshop
(29 July 2018)

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated entity for culture, arts, heritage and literature, organised a ‘Joint Initiatives Between the UAE’s Cultural Entities’ workshop, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development. The workshop was held during this month at the Etihad Museum in Dubai.

During the workshop, participants discussed five subjects, with a special emphasis placed on the cultural initiatives, especially in regards to the policy of supporting talented people in the cultural sector. The participants also discussed the legislative requirements relating to the cultural sector in the UAE and the necessary plans needed to provide and distribute culture in the Emirates.

The workshop was attended by a large number of representatives from the cultural sectors in the UAE, including officials from Dubai Culture, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, the Ministry of Education, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and officials from the publishing sector as well as from cultural institutions in the country.

Dhaen Shaheen, Advisor of Chairman of the Board of Directors at Dubai Culture: “We at Dubai Culture are keen to organise cultural workshops because we see them as vital channels that encourage the participation of sectors and members of society in developing the cultural work system in the country. These workshops play an important role in our mission as they establish a culture of creativity, encourage cultural innovation, and raise awareness of the sector’s developments, while spreading word of it through the introduction of ideas and challenges that face the sector to attain the desired creative outputs.

Dr.Hissa bin Masoud, Director of Dubai Public Library at Dubai Culture, commented: "Our ‘Joint Initiatives Between the UAE's Cultural Institutions’ workshop  — in cooperation with our strategic partners from Government entities, companies and individuals — reflects our pivotal role in strengthening Dubai's position as a cultural hub that serves the UAE and the region, and continuously explores ways to ensure that all segments of society are attracted to our events and activities throughout the year."

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit Dubai’s citizens, residents and visitors.
