Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) honoured the 10 winners and participants in the 21st Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP), as well as 37 employees who received DEWA’s Internal Excellence Awards for the first half of 2018. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development & Excellence, honoured 47 of DEWA’s distinguished employees employees during the annual event, which was held at the InterContinental Dubai hotel in Festival City. The event was attended by Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and staff. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to develop government work and foster a culture of creativity and innovation among employees.
Sara Al Zarooni received first place in the Dubai Medal for Best Field Employee. Rokaya Al Baloushi came second in the Dubai Medal for Best Service Centre Manager. Asma Bahman was second in the Dubai Medal for Best Employee in Customer Service. Dr Ammar Mounir came third in the Dubai Medal for the Best Specialised Employee. Marwan Karani, was third in the Dubai Medal for Best Technical Engineering. Fatma Al Jokar came third in the Dubai Medal for Best Employee in Administration. Noura Abdulrahman was third in the Dubai Medal for new distinguished employee. Mohamed Gawed Mohamed was winner of the Unknown Soldier award. Hasan Haggi participated in the Dubai Medal for innovative employees, and Adel Al Tamimi participated in the Dubai Medal for Best Supervisor. This supported DEWA’s strategy to establish a culture of success and excellence and to constantly encourage and motivate employees by honouring them and shedding light on their creativity, innovations and contributions. This supports DEWA’s efforts to develop and improve institutional performance.
The 37 winners of the first half of DEWA’s Internal Excellence Awards were also honoured. The awards’ categories included Employee Excellence, Administrative Excellence, and Customer Happiness. Employee Excellence included categories such as the distinguished supervisory employee, distinguished employee in specialist jobs, distinguished technical staff, distinguished field staff, distinguished administrative staff, innovative employees, new distinguished employees, and the Unknown Soldier. Customer Happiness included best customer service staff, and best service staff at the call centre.
The ceremony also honoured the winners of the Health and Safety Week 2017 for departments and divisions. The Water Operations department won first place, and Abdullah Obaidullah, Executive Vice President of Water & Civil, and Omar Abdullah Al Falasi, Director of Water Operations Department, accepted the award. Distribution Power came second, and Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power, accepted the award. The Transmission Power department won third place, and Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President of Transmission Power, received the award.
