Dubai Customs’ Intellectual Property Rights, IPR, Department has received a Japanese delegation. The delegation was received by Yousef Ozair, IPR Department Director, among other Dubai Customs officials.
The delegation included Masachi Nimoto, Head of International Cooperation Section, and Yushihidi Sogimoto, Economic Advisor at the Consulate General of Japan.
Ozair briefed the Japanese delegates on Dubai Customs’ rich experience in protecting intellectual property rights.
"We continually develop the skills of our employees to best protect intellectual property rights. We organise workshops and invite brand owners who explain the way their brands are violated and how best to tackle this. Dubai Customs also coordinates with other customs administrations in the GCC under the unified customs law. We are very interested in cooperating with the Japanese brand owners to better tackle counterfeiting. This comes within Dubai Customs efforts to facilitate trade and invite more investments" he said.
Ozair thanked the Japanese delegation for the invitation to attend the panel session which will be organised in February 2019 to discuss different means and ways of combating counterfeiting.
The Japanese delegation applauded the efforts of the IPR Department in protecting intellectual property and preventing counterfeiting.
