The Holy Month of Ramadan, marks a time for giving back to society and providing to those in need. Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai will be giving back this Holy Month by partnering with two notable organizations, Red Crescent and Al Jalila Foundation.
Throughout Ramadan, a donation box will be placed in the hotel lobby where guests can drop off clothing, bedding, shoes and towels. The donations will be collected by Red Crescent and given to those in need around the region. There is a need for all of the above for all sizes and genders, so any donation is welcome.
Additionally, Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai is participating in Al Jalila Foundation’s Ramadan fundraising campaign called basma, which is ‘smile’ in Arabic. The campaign aims to bring smiles to the faces of children with debilitating and life threatening illnesses by providing them with hope and the chance of a better life. Every Dirham raised through basma goes toward treating children and finding cures for diseases, which have a long-term impact on their lives. Throughout the Holy Month, a portion of the proceeds from every Iftar at Dunes Café will be donated to basma.
Sulaiman Baharoun, Director of Partnerships & Sustainability, said: “Al Jalila Foundation is delighted with the enthusiasm our basma partners have embraced the spirit of giving by dedicating a portion of proceeds, throughout the month of Ramadan, to support children’s medical treatment in the UAE. As a home-grown philanthropic organisation that relies on donors to carry on the work we do, we welcome inspiring and innovative ways from the community to raise funds for charitable causes. Every donation raised by Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai will go a long way to giving hope and spreading happiness to children affected by illness.”
