Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has announced the launch of the second edition of the One Million Arab Coders initiative, which was launched by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Registration in the second edition of the initiative is open to all Arab youth from across the world. The deadline for registration is 10th April, 2018. Interested applicants can register on the website www.arabcoders.ae
Supported by the Hussain Sajwani – DAMAC Foundation, the One Million Arab Coders initiative features three stages. The first stage includes registering to join one of two categories – Arab students or tutors. The second stage requires applicants to complete several three-month virtual coding programmes. The top 1,000 students to be selected will receive certificates and enrolled in the Coder Challenge. In the third stage, the top 1,000 coders will compete in the Coder Challenge. The top ten students in the Challenge will be announced at the end of the competition. The first-place winner will receive a prize of $1,000,000, while the remaining nine will be awarded $50,000 each. The top four tutors, decided through student votes, will win $200,000 each.
The 'One Million Arab Coders' initiative seeks to equip young Arabs with the tools to build their future, starting with fluency in coding and programming. It aims to help Arabs gain new employment opportunities and empower them with the skills needed to contribute to the development of the digital economy.
