HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a high-level Spanish delegation, headed by Don José Luis Káiser, Director General of International Trade and Investments at the Spanish Secretariat for Trade. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation and exchange the best international experiences, to support joint work.

DEWA staff attending the meeting included Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, and Marwan Bin Haider, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future.

Al Tayer welcomed the visiting delegation, and explained the importance of fruitful cooperation between the two parties. He stressed DEWA’s intent to cooperate with Spanish organisations and entities, and to expand partnerships and investment opportunities in clean energy.

Al Tayer reviewed DEWA’s programmes, plans, and projects that aim to achieve the vision of the wise leadership, enhance the UAE’s global leadership, and improve performance, productivity, and quality of services. He noted that DEWA’s strategies are aligned with the UAE Centennial 2071, UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021 to secure a happy and sustainable future and support the UAE in reaching first place in all areas. He also explained the details of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world's largest single-site solar power project, with an overall investment of AED 50 billion and a production capacity of 5,000MW by 2030.

Al Tayer highlighted that DEWA adopted the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model to enhance public-private partnerships and achieve the lowest prices for electricity in the world. Dubai has also established a strong regulatory framework, represented by the Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau in Dubai (RSB), to encourage private sector investments.

Al Tayer also highlighted that DEWA continuously works to upgrade its services, to form a distinctive model to meet all the requirements for development in Dubai. DEWA also provides electricity and water services, in accordance with the highest international standards, in availability, reliability and efficiency to achieve the happiness of all customers and stakeholders.

The Spanish delegation commended DEWA’s efforts, especially in clean energy, and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation to increase trade and investment opportunities and promote bilateral relations.
