The current official portal of the UAE government has seen a steady increase in the number of its visitors, achieving an upward growth as the number of visitors to the portal has doubled seven times in almost a year since its launching in April 2014. By mid-March 2018, the portal had about three million visits in total, while the number of portal page views approached six million. The VAT page came up on top of the pages, followed by the visa and work pages.
H.E. Salem Al Housani, Acting Deputy Director General for Information and E-Government Sector in the TRA, noted that the official portal of the UAE government has become the one stop shop for anyone seeking information about the UAE in any field. He said: "The portal is the UAE government's online presence, which is in line with the directives of the wise leadership towards establishing UAE leadership and contributing to the happiness of government customers. The portal includes broad information relevant to service seekers, in addition to government policies, decisions and projects, as well as links to government and eServices. The portal also embodies the principle of positive interaction between the government and the public through multiple communication channels that contribute to improving the content and functions of the portal.
H.E added: "We are looking at the upward growth of the rate of demand for the high-value content available on the UAE government official portal as it is reflecting the customer happiness. We are proud that this national project will become a valuable contribution to strengthening happiness in the community. The portal is also one of the central pillars in promoting the Smart Services Index, one of the national indicators of the UAE Vision 2021, where the UAE seeks to achieve first position globally in this area by its union golden Jubilee."
The portal is an integrated platform that brings together all the eServices provided by government entities in the UAE. In recent months, the portal ranking on the search engines has jumped to the top results for many of the keywords used by users in their search for information and services provided by the UAE government.
For people outside the UAE, the portal is the first stop for anyone interested in coming to the UAE for tourism, work or investment. This is evident from the many enquiries coming through the communication channels in the portal about opportunities of investment, tourism or employment.
In a questionnaire published at the portal to measure user satisfaction and feedback with a 50,000 participants, the results revealed that 90% of the portal users were satisfied with the level and value of the content and the services provided, considering them as the first and easiest source for any information concerning the UAE.
The TRA launched the revamped UAE government official portal in April 2017, after implementing major updates to adapt to global developments and local needs. The portal team conducted many user experience tests to monitor the needs of different groups of society and incorporated them into the work requirements in areas such as content, design and accessibility of information and services, focusing on the people of determination in particular.
The portal consists of four main sections, including the Information and Services section, an information section about the UAE, the eParticipation Section and the media section. The information and Services section addresses many topics such as employment, investment, tourism, infrastructure and visa, as well as a complete list of all government services in the UAE. The second section covers the history of the UAE in various eras, in addition to plans and strategies of shaping the future and achieving comprehensive development. This section also covers the UAE efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development goals set by the United Nations. In the eParticipation section, numerous channels of communication with the UAE government are available, including counselling and instant chat platforms, etc.
The TRA is currently in the process of launching a campaign aimed at promoting public participation in developing the portal content and services. The campaign will include a questionnaire to measure the efficiency of the content and topics covered by the portal and will invite users to report any missing, incorrect or duplicate information, in addition to suggesting other topics of interest to the users not covered by the portal. Awards will be given to privileged contributors that benefit users and enrich the content.
