Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Press Club (DPC), has announced Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s support as Sustainability Partner to the 17th Arab Media Forum (AMF). AMF is the most prominent event of its kind in the region.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri, President of Dubai Press Club and Chairperson of Arab Media Forum, expressed her gratitude to DEWA for supporting the 17th AMF. She noted that the partnership between DEWA and DPC confirms that national organisations recognise the importance of media and its impact in improving and serving Arab societies, and overcoming challenges to achieve a stable future that brings happiness to the region.
“DEWA’s partnership with the Arab Media Forum supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, that, “UAE media leaders have defined a new path forward to cope with the dramatic changes facing the sector and achieve the UAE’s ambitions, cementing the country’s leadership status. This supports the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071, to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2071. DEWA’s strategic approach supports the forum’s messages, where, the media, media organisations, and social media play a key role in the society. The media is responsible for educating and enlightening the community by sending DEWA’s messages to the public. These messages include issues that have become the focus of the world's discussions, namely renewable energy, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, new technologies in various fields, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, energy storage, blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), conservation of natural resources, environment, reducing consumption, among others,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“We look forward to this year's session of the forum because we believe that we are moving in the right direction, towards positive change in the Arab media. This year’s session will be held under the theme ‘Impactful Media Trends’. The surrounding global developments have proved that positivity and sustainability are the key pillars to work and build solid foundations for a sustainable life for generations to come,” added Al Tayer.

DEWA has previously supported the Dubai Press Club as ‘Sustainability Partner’. DEWA plays a key role in securing a happy and sustainable future, to make the UAE rank first in all areas, support the UAE Centennial 2071, the UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021.
The UAE, represented by DEWA, ranked first in the world in getting electricity, as per the World Bank’s Doing Business 2018 report. DEWA’s efficient, effective and sustainable practices are clearly reflected in its international performance results. DEWA succeeded in reducing electricity line losses from 7% to 3.3% and Unaccounted for Water from 42% to 7.1% and these are global benchmarks. Customer Minutes Lost reached 2.68 minutes per year compared with 15 minutes of leading utilities in Europe and the USA. The fuel efficiency of its latest power plants increased to about 90%. Its generation efficiency increased by 28.86% from 2006 to 2017. DEWA’s necessary investments total AED 81 billion over the next five years, to meet growing demand for electricity and water in the Emirate. This provides significant investment opportunities, contributes to the growth of the green economy, and creates a competitive advantage in the UAE for clean energy and energy efficiency. DEWA works to secure energy supplies by diversifying the energy mix to ensure 75% of Dubai's total clean energy production by 2050.
