Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, reported an increase in the number of buildings using its district cooling service to 1000 buildings by the end of 2017, compared to 920 buildings in 2016. This increase is due to Empowerwinning several contracts with new projects in different areas of the Emirate. It reflects Empower's efforts and commitment to deliver highly efficient district cooling services to the highest international standards and best practices.

District cooling systems have become an essential part of the planning and design of modern buildings in Dubai, which seeks to achieve sustainable development goals in-line with various Dubai energy strategies, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aim to transform Dubai to a global centre for energy efficiency and green economy and to strengthen its position to become the world's city with least carbon footprint. Our services are aligned with the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 to become one of the best countries in the world by 2021,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO, Empower.

In 2004, Empower started its services by connecting to two building to its district cooling network; by the end of 2017, the number of buildings supplied with district cooling service by Empower reached 1000 buildings. The the number of buildings is expected to increase rapidly in the coming period due to the strategic direction of Dubai to promote best practices that contribute to the preservation of the environment and adopt the best solutions to ensure sustainable future for the next generations.
Empower currently operates 1.34 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Business Bay, Dubai Healthcare City, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Palm Jumeirah, Discovery Gardens, Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai Design District and International Media Production Zone, among others.
