Smart Dubai has won the prestigious Microsoft Dynamics Digital Transformation Award 2017 for the Government Sector category in an awards ceremony the tech and software giant recently held in Dubai.
The prize targets selected customers of Microsoft, with the Government Sector category focusing on public-sector entities that embrace technology in their development and operations. Furthermore, it was the first time that Microsoft Gulf hosted the award ceremony.
The coveted award reaffirms Dubai’s leading position and underlines the great achievements made by Smart Dubai and its affiliate organisations, said Her Excellency Dr Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director General of the Smart Dubai Office (SDO), adding that Smart Dubai is driving the emirate’s smart transformation in order to achieve its ultimate goal of making Dubai the happiest and smartest city in the world, as per the directives of the wise leadership and the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071 Plan.
The Microsoft Dynamics Digital Transformation Award sheds light on digital transformation plans and projects, and their critical role in the progress and development of communities. The accolade recognises and rewards entities that are leading the smart-city transformation process with innovative solutions that engage customers, empower employees, increase operational efficiency and help develop products and services.
Candidates for the award were shortlisted through a survey conducted by Microsoft, where applicants were asked to describe an innovative project that was implemented using tech solutions developed by Microsoft. Each project was evaluated against a set of key performance indicators, including: customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, employee productivity, operational efficiency, and progress made in developing and upgrading products and services.
