The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has recognised customers who have reduced their energy and water consumption levels, as part of the Authority's endeavours to support Dubai's sustainability strategies and conserve its natural resources.
The move is part of the first phase of its pilot project to encourage homeowners and households across the emirate in implementation of the Demand Side Management Strategy, to reduce energy and water demand by 30 percent by 2030.
The project included direct communication with customers, through various communication channels. DEWA provided them with customised reports explaining their consumption details, tips to reduce their consumption, and comparisons between electricity and water consumption, as well as average energy consumption rates in neighbouring areas.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, commended the high level of environmental and community awareness demonstrated by the participants and their efforts to reduce energy and water consumption.
He noted that DEWA will continue to launch initiatives and projects to consolidate the concept of conservation between all segments of society to contribute to sustainable development in all its social, environmental, and economic levels.
