Costa Rica To Open Office In Dubai
(28 February 2018)

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Costa Rican government to open a representative office for Costa Rica in Dubai.

The MoU was signed by Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of Dubai Chamber, and Manuel Gonzalez Sanz, Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, who represented the government of Costa Rica, during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Global Business Forum on Latin America 2018 in Dubai.

Under the terms of the MoU, Costa Rica’s government will open a representative office in Dubai, located at Dubai Chamber’s headquarters. The agreement supports the efforts of the UAE and Costa Rica to strengthen bilateral cooperation and facilitate trade and investment flows. It will also enable business communities in Costa Rica to expand their global footprint by leveraging Dubai’s strategic position to access markets across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

"The opening of Costa Rica’s representative office in Dubai is a positive development that will improve our economic relations with the country and the Latin America region. It will enable companies in Costa Rica and other Latin American nations to benefit from the competitive advantages offered by Dubai, and boost their trade with other parts of the world," Al Ghurair said.

He added, "Our economic relations with Costa Rica are witnessing remarkable growth, supported by a strong commitment from both sides to promote trade and investment opportunities that are mutually beneficial."

"We are thankful to the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the opportunity to open our Representative Office in Dubai. It is in line with one of our key goals of economic diplomacy – to create active spaces for the promotion of Costa Rica and our goods and services in the most dynamic hub of the Middle East, that serves Asia and Africa, and within one of the most efficient and professional Chambers worldwide," Sanz said.

Sanz added that the MoU will help in offering better jobs and will create a platform that will serve the private sector of both nations.
