Dubai Customs actively participated as the main sponsor in the first edition of Arab Innovation Forum, organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) on February 26-28.
In his statement delivered in the opening of the forum, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs said:”
“The Forum is a platform for institutions, experts and entrepreneurs to come together and showcase their innovations as well as discuss topics of interest and forge professional strategic ties that will in turn help strengthen the economy. This will support early-stage companies from the UAE and around the world in the ‘Start-up Zone”.
Dubai Customs takes part in the event as part of its activities in the UAE Innovation Month.
Musabih added:” We, at Dubai Customs, keep abreast of innovation journey in the UAE by introducing new innovations developed internally to enhance performance in customs work. The Department has introduced 26,028 new ideas and innovations between 2004 and 2017 which resulted in AED 1.7b revenues and cost reduction. It has bagged 120 awards in the field of innovation, and 35 awards in the field of corporate excellence including the Distinguished Medium Government Entity. We also had a good role in supporting the UAE top world countries in the Efficiency of Customs Procedures Index at the annual report of the Global Competitiveness of 2017”.
Director of Dubai Customs pointed out that innovations developed internally were meant in the first place to serve passengers in the best possible way, facilitate trade by reducing time and effort, and protect the borders.
Dubai Customs received “Certified Innovative Organization” certificate from the Global Innovation Institute (GInI) to become the first government department to get this certificate worldwide.
At the event, Dubai Customs presented its experience through a photo gallery around the best 10 internal innovations. These include a dimensional inspection device, an inspection buggy dedicated to helping people of determination, an amphibian inspection buggy, a mobile inspection lab, a remote integrated container inspection system, a smart inspection system in the airports, a customs clearance buggy, and a robotic inspection system for ladies.
The first edition of the Arab Innovation Forum will provide around 200 start-ups the chance to not only showcase their innovations, but to network with innovators, investors and decision-makers.
