5 things you need to know before visiting Dubai
Once upon a time it was the Costa del Sol, now everyone wants a piece of Dubai. However, even though it might be the holiday destination on the tip of everyone's tongues, there are more than a few misconceptions when it comes to this country. It would be fair to say that Dubai has a reputation amongst travelers, and through the course of today's article we will take a look at some of the biggest things you need to know before you travel there.
Need to know #1 - You will need travel insurance
It might be regarded as one of the richest countries in the world, and it most certainly is, but that doesn't mean to say that Dubai are going to pay for your medical procedures should the need arise.
In truth, it is the same all over the world. You need to be adequately insured and if you do have any underlying issues, we really would suggest that you research how to get travel insurance with a heart condition or any other complaint that you might have.
Need to know #2 - It's not just skyscrapers
Another misconception about Dubai is its just skyscrapers. Again, this interlinks with the point we made about its wealth; a lot of people immediately assume that it's a purely business destination.
Fortunately, this couldn't be further from the truth. Does Dubai have some of the tallest and most incredible buildings in the world? It most certainly does. At the same time writing help, it has a wealth of culture which you need to investigate.
Need to know #3 - Don't worry about the burkini
A lot of people traveling over to Dubai immediately think they need to don a burkini whenever they venture near the water.
In reality, this is seldom true. The UAE is a Muslim country, but for tourists it's not as strict as some people make out. As long as you have a little respect for the culture, and don't bear too much flesh, there are absolutely no issues in the tourist areas.
Need to know #4 - Taxis are the best method of transport
For such a rich country, you could be forgiven for thinking that taxis would cost a small fortune to use. Fortunately, they don't in the slightest, and are by far and away the best way to get around. Sure, there are cheapest methods of transport such as the Metro, but the convenient and relatively cheap nature of taxis means that these should be the preferred method for tourists.
Need to know #5 - You can drink alcohol
Another huge myth surrounding Dubai is that alcohol is absolutely forbidden. Well, for some residents it might be, but as a tourist you are provided a little more leniency.
This leniency does tend to stretch quite far as well. For example, the vast majority of hotels will serve it, while there are also plenty of bars and clubs which of course do the same.
Of course, if you are looking for all-you-can-drink deals, you will be disappointed and may even get in trouble. If you stay sensible, there are plenty of places to drink in Dubai though.
No trip to Dubai is complete without a desert safari. Dubai has evolved as one of the most sizzling cities over the last few decades. The dynamic cosmopolitan population here largely consists of business professionals and tourists. Well, if you are in the city for a vacation or a business trip, you cannot possibly miss out an evening desert safari Dubai. The tour organizers arrange bespoke trips to the desert in the late afternoons, where you can experience the traditional way of life in the desert. Along with fire shows, belly dances and photo sessions in traditional Arabic attire, you have BBQ dinners and Arabian cuisines to taste. With all these, an evening desert safari in Dubai is something you cannot afford to miss out.
