RTA, Dubai Police Prepare Traffic Plan During Eid Al-Adha Holiday

Events Security Committee, comprising of Dubai Police and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has charted out a comprehensive plan for traffic movement in Dubai during Eid al-Adha holiday. The ultimate objective of the plan is to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance the safety and security of road users during the Eid holiday. 

“Events Security Committee has completed preparations for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday. The Committee has held a series of coordinative meetings with the concerned bodies to work out a joint plan that can address the needs of all respective parties. The plan developed covers the traffic security in tourist and commercial areas as well as main streets during Eid festivities,” said Major General Abdullah Al Ghaithi, Director of the General Department of Organisations Protective Security and Emergency cum Chairman of Events Security Committee. 

“The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police has endorsed the plan and praised the efforts of Events Security Committee. It covers all internal and key roads such as the Airport Street, tourist areas and malls. Traffic and road security patrols will maintain a strong presence to ease and prevent potential traffic issues as a result of the anticipated heavy traffic,” added Al Ghaithi.

“RTA has charted the required traffic and operational plans and planned the operation of mass transit means to meet the rising needs of the public and road users during the period. The aim of the plan is to enable the public to safely use public or private transit means during Eid days, which is usually a busy period,” said Engineer Maitha Bin Adai CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency and Head of the Team responsible for Traffic Movement and Handling of Operational Plans during Annual Events. 

“The plan covers Burj Khalifa district where traffic will be directed in different directions, be it from Oud Metha Street, Happiness Street or internal roads of the Business Bay. To ensure the smooth traffic flow, light signals at the Financial Centre Street and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will be monitored and controlled to ensure smooth traffic flow at peak times,” added Bin Adai. 

Metro and Tram Timing

Bin Adai reported that the Metro and Tram timing during Eid al-Adha holiday will be as follows:

From Saturday 10 August to Thursday 15 August, the Red Line of Dubai Metro will start at 05:00 am up to 02:00 am (of the following day). On Friday 16 August, the service will start at 10:00 am and continue up to 02:00 am (of the following day).

From Saturday 10 August to Thursday 15 August, the Green Line of Dubai Metro will start at 05:30 am up to 02:00 am (of the following day). On Friday 16 August, the service will start at 10:00 am and continue up to 02:00 am (of the following day). The Express Metro service will remain operational as usual.

The Tram timing during the period from Saturday 10 August to Thursday 15 August will be from 06:00 am to 01:00 am (of the following day). On Friday 16 August, the service will start at 09:00 am and continue up to 01:00 am (of the following day). The service frequency will range from 3 to 8 minutes. 

Organizational measures will be taken to streamline the bus and taxi service to ensure the deployment of sufficient numbers at the pick-up and drop-off points of Dubai Mall and during peak times as well. A team of competent engineers will be in place to cope with any emergencies in coordination with Dubai Police and Emaar to ensure the implementation of operational plans and implementing the required closures.
