Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), the governing body of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), today announced a partnership with the Traditional Chinese Medicine and Technology Industrial (GMTCM) Park from Macao to advance the field of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in the free zone.
Both parties will contribute to cementing the ongoing cooperation between the UAE and China, whose bilateral relations entered a new era in July this year with strategic alliances in key sectors including health.
The partnership between the DHCA and GMTCM Park will see both parties exchange knowledge and expertise in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as well as develop policies, regulations and standards to ensure quality of care.
The agreement was signed last week on the sidelines of the 2018 Traditional Medicine International Forum in Macao by Omar Oumeish, Executive Director, DHCA, and Lu Hong, President and CEO of the GMTCM Park in the presence of Dr Ramadan AlBlooshi, CEO, Dubai Healthcare City Authority - Regulatory (DHCR), as well as other senior officials from both parties.
“Dubai Healthcare City is proud to contribute to UAE’s efforts to increase cooperation between the UAE and China in the field of alternative medicine, specifically Traditional Chinese Medicine.
DHCC aims to become a global hub for healthcare and wellness through developing unique and high-quality healthcare offerings to visitors from across the globe. “Enabling offerings in niche specialties such as TCM is an integral part in achieving our objective of becoming a global hub for healthcare and wellness attracting visitors to DHCC. Our collaboration with GMTCM Park in the field of alternative medicine is part of this strategic approach,” noted Dr AlBlooshi.
GMTCM Park is the first project jointly developed by the governments of Guangdong Province and Macao to promote the traditional Chinese medicine industry globally. DHCC has stringent CAM guidelines and standards for licensing and services to ensure high levels of quality, performance, and patient safety. Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of eight specialties licensed under complementary and alternative medicine. There are currently 23 clinical facilities within DHCC offering CAM services.
