Dawood Al Hajiri, Director General of Dubai Municipality on Monday inaugurated the 10th edition of the World of Perishables (WOP) Dubai 2018, which is being held from 1st to 3rd, October 2018 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The WOP is an ideal platform, which allows establishments to explore ways to meet the high demand for fresh products.
Mohammed Mubarak Al Mutaiwei, CEO, Business Development Sector at Dubai Municipality said, "The exhibition enjoys the support and patronage of the Municipality and benefits from the flourishing of trade in fresh vegetables and fruits in the Gulf countries."
He added that this year, the Municipality was keen to highlight smart projects that serve the government's approach with its participation in the exhibition.
The Municipality showcases three smart projects in the exhibition. The Smart Table Project: These tables will be installed in the new complex in the vegetable market (Market 3) and will be located in the air-conditioned sales areas. It is a table that gives remote information to Municipality inspectors about the existence of damaged vegetables and fruits that need to be examined by linking them to the food information network that runs through the country's ports. It can also give information to the public about the displayed vegetables and fruits such as the country of origin and the expiry date through the bar code sticker on the vegetable or the fruit.
The second project is the Smart Trolley in the market, which works by identifying the shopper who wants to buy vegetables and fruits, and then chasing him during his shopping, without the shopper having to push them with his hand and delivering them to his cars. This results in a reduction in the number of workers in the market, satisfaction with Dubai Municipality's services and market management.
The third project is the Smart Hand device. There are three platforms in the Vegetables and Fruits Market for loading and unloading. The idea is to find a fast and safe way to load and unload instead of using the manual ways that are always vulnerable to injuries. It also reduces time and effort, and achieves customer satisfaction.
