For the second consecutive year, Dubai Duty Free was announced as one of the winners of the International Safety Awards presented by the British Safety Council at a black-tie event held recently at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 27th April.
The British Safety Council, a Registered Charity founded by James Tye in 1957and one of the world's leading Health and Safety organisations, selected Dubai Duty Free for its strong commitment to good health and safety management in 2017. The airport retailer is one of the worldwide oganisations from Africa, Asia, India, Middle East, UK and from mainland Europe to receive this award.
Commenting on the recognition, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Colm McLoughlin said, "We are delighted to receive the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for the second consecutive year. I commend our team for their involvement, cooperation and commitment in enhancing the organisation's safety culture at all times."
The International Safety Awards is an annual scheme designed by the British Safety Council to recognise and reward good health and safety management by organisations of all sizes and sectors around the world during the previous calendar year. These awards are non-competitive and are based on the organisation's individual occupational health and safety performance assessed against the judging criteria by an independent panel of chartered health and safety professionals.
Dubai Duty Free operates an Integrated Management System in accordance with ISO 14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001: 2007. The operation also performs regular audits on HSE System and HSE Operational Procedures and conducted HSE Awareness Training for new staff during induction programmes.
