The Buildings Department at Dubai Municipality has launched a new system to register contractors in a bid to simplify procedures for owners and customers in the industrial buildings sector in the local market.
The new system will allow a contractor to design industrial buildings and supervise their implementation without the need to appoint a consultancy office. This move will facilitate the quick completion of projects and reduce costs, while opening doors for investment.
Layali Al Mulla, Director of the Buildings Department, said that the department endeavours to learn about the best international practices and develop them and then apply them to construction projects within the emirate.
She pointed out that the number of industrial projects submitted for building licenses in the traditional system was 233 during 2017, and that the new system, based on feasibility studies, will reduce the cost of projects by more than six percent of the total project value and will accelerate the implementation of projects by at least 25 percent, which will benefit the owners and increase and encourage investment.
Al Mulla said the department will start conducting seminars on 26th March to introduce the new initiative to the building owners and contractors and present the desired benefits of the new system.
