Dubai Municipality has introduced a new category for engineering companies allowing construction contractors of steel structures to design and implement industrial buildings.

According to a circular issued by Dubai Municipality, the contractors of steel structures have been allowed to apply directly for building permits for industrial buildings with ground and first floors only. They can design and implement the projects without the presence of a consultant. The circular benefits project owners to save the cost of projects and reduce the implementation time.

Layali Al Mulla, Director of Buildings Department at Dubai Municipality, said that the department seeks to cooperate with the local market to qualify its cadres, conducts seminars and lectures for construction contractors of steel structures on the methods of submitting applications and obtaining building permits as well as supervises projects.

"As we believe in the efficiency of the technical staff of these companies that are approved by the Municipality, we have activated the design and construction work of steel structures, which reflects positively on the local market, encourages investment in the emirate, supports the construction sector and achieve happiness of company owners and all," she said.
