DEWA signs MoU with Intel Corporation Middle East

In adherence with the directives of the wise leadership to transform Dubai into the happiest city in the world, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Intel Corporation Middle East, to enhance cooperation and develop new initiatives, achieving the happiness of stakeholders though the adoption and development of the latest technologies and business models. These include the Internet of All Things, Cloud Computing and Data Centres, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and others. 

The MoU will set a framework to further develop IT services, and water and electricity services, in addition to developing prototypes and Software Development Kits (SDKs) for field applications, while benefiting from advanced robotics and mixed virtual reality technology. The MoU also enables both parties to explore Intel’s capabilities in regard to Big Data, analytics, and data governance, to launch efficient initiatives. 

In adherence with the terms of the MoU, Intel will develop technical field applications at DEWA, and use the latest technology to improve work efficiency, Big Data Management, Architecture, Analytics and Interactive Visualization, Cyber Security, threat intelligence and response, advanced mobile communication and control solutions, Data Centres and Cloud Computing, and many others. The MoU was signed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and Taha Khalifa, Regional General Manager of Intel, MENA region.

Al Tayer expressed his happiness on signing the agreement, noting the importance of cooperation, to benefit from the latest techniques and provide customers with innovative, smart, quick, smooth, and integrated services, 24 hours a day.

“DEWA supports the Smart Dubai initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative contributes to achieving a significant improvement to the services provided to customers, and transforming Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world. The initiative enables the management of the city’s utilities and services using smart and connected services. In adherence with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to ensure all government policies, programmes, and services contribute towards building a positive and happy community, and to ensure that the government takes priority in creating conditions capable of facilitating happiness for all stakeholders. In adherence with the UAE Vision 2021 to enhance sustainable development and achieve the expectations of citizens and residents, DEWA provides world-class government services and adopts the best international practices, to make people as happy as possible. We constantly work, led by the vision of our wise leadership who instructed us to provide smart and sustainable services, according to the highest standards of accountability, reliability, and efficiency,” said Al Tayer.

“Our cooperation with Intel Corporation Middle East, supports our efforts to achieve the Smart Grid strategy which includes several programmes. These programmes are: Advanced Metering Infrastructure for Electricity, Advanced Metering Infrastructure for Water, Asset Management, Demand Response, Distribution Automation, Information Technology Infrastructure, Substation Automation, System Integration, Telecommunications, Big Data and Analytics, and Security,” continued Al Tayer.

Taha Khalifa hailed DEWA’s efforts to transform Dubai into a future smart city, which makes people happy, makes their lives easier, and improves living standards, in addition to improving resource-use efficiency and streamlining and integrating services.
