Etisalat and du revenues amount to AED 7.3 billion in Q1
The revenues of Etisalat and du, the UAE’s first and second telecoms operators, including their associated services, amounted to AED 7.3 billion, accounting for 67.2 percent of both companies' total revenues at the local market, standing at AED 10.76 billion during Q1 2017. Mobile phone services still account for the main bulk of the two companies' revenues, according to their financial statements. with the two operators urged by industry experts to launch more promotional campaigns for their mobile services and enhance post-sale services.
As per the two companies' official figures, Etisalat and du have continued to post fair growth levels on the local market, with the number of active subscribers in mobile phone services amounting to 18.6 million during Q1 2017. Subscribers in pre-paid mobile services exceed 84 percent of total subscriptions, while recurring monthly subscribers account for the remaining percent.
The number of subscribers in Etisalat's mobile services amount to 10.6 million and 8 million in du, according to the two companies' Q1 statements.
Etisalat and du booked combined total net profits of AED 2.47 billion during Q1 2017, with the UAE government royalty fees for the same period amounting to AED2.15 billion following the implementation of the new royalty percentages announced by the UAE Ministry of Finance by the beginning of the current year, according to which government royalties by the two operators have been unified.
