Dubai Chess and Culture Club
Dubai Chess and Culture Club is distinguished as being the most modern and biggest dedicated chess club in the world. Its players constitute the ‘backbone” of the UAE national team, and as a matter of fact those players have achieved outstanding successes on all levels.The number of players registered with the Club is 107 and a board of 9 members, in addition to a technical team consisting of management and coaches runs the Club.
The Club has organized many international and local events among which are the following: Youth Blitz World Chess championship 1985, Blitz Chess Tournament for participants in Dubai Olympiad 1986, Dubai Open Chess Championship and Credit Swiss Chess Masters Tournament 1994,and ASIAN CITIES TEAMS CHEESS CHAMPIONSHIP (DUBAI CUB) 1996 and further, its technical team took part in the organization of all international events held in UAE.
Since its launching, the Dubai Chess & Culture Club has played a leading role in the chess activity in UAE, achieving for the country many successes on the international, continental and Arab levels. The Club has also played an imminent role through its administrative members who contributed in promoting chess and leading the chess activity along with their chess colleagues through out UAE.
The main club hall that is honored by the name of His Highness Sheikh Seed Bin Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the largest chess hall ever built within a chess club, allowing the participation of more than 240 players in one tournament, whether on the individual or team level, something that enables the club to host major chess events such as the Asian Cities Team Championship.
The training rooms are equipped with advanced hardware and software systems that serve the coach and the trainees, and the hall can be used for different purposes, activities and ceremonies that serve the Club and avail the opportunity for organizing other activities in addition to chess tournaments. In the hall, there is a control room for managing tournaments and activities, equipped with sound and light systems that suit the activities of the Club, besides the computer room that provide services for players and members, although the emphasis is on the benefit of the players.
The Club premises cater for the mind in general, thanks to the large library that serves the visitors and members of the Club, and which is designed so as to provide the reader with the required calm atmosphere and the easy handling in terms of fixtures, capabilities and location at the first floor of the Club next to the management offices.
The main building also includes a reception hall equipped with appropriate systems and decoration, in addition to a prestigious hall for VIP’s, an Internet room, a snooker and billiard room and the cafeteria opened for visitors and players, with all such facilities aimed at creating sociable surroundings for the members besides practicing the chess activity.
