UAE Down Syndrome Association
The Association started its activities with a group of volunteers and those interested in Down Syndrome from the parents and specialists in this field under the umbrella of Dubai Ladies Club Member of Dubai woman Establishment.After the hard work and support of the community, Highness Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, President of Dubai Women Establishment decided to offer her support to this group, which was named of “UAE Down Syndrome Support Group”, that was in January 2005, and the group got the privilege of Her Highness auspices, which grants the group full support.
UAE Down Syndrome Support Group was launched as a public benefit association by the Ministry of Social Affairs Ministerial Decree No. (405) of 2006 dated September 14, 2006.
The group include more than 200 families of different nationalities the range of agesis from few months to the age of 30 years.
Who are we?
The UAE Down Syndrome Association is a volunteer based Association for immediate change in the attitude of the society and seek to great possitive awareness.
The Association work team include volunteers interested in supporting people with Down Syndrome from the parents and specialists in this field.
The Association represents its members to the official sand decision-makers. Our headquarters in Dubai and from there proceed to the other Emirates.
We highlight the needs of people with Down Syndrome and we are working to create an environment that enable them to integrate in the society, We also provide support and encouragement to their families and always working to increase the community’s awareness of them and their needs.

To improve the quality of life for people with Down Syndrome and provide them and their families with full support for a better life.
Mission
UAE Down Syndrome Association seeks to provide the best practice to similar associations in the region in order to empower individuals with Down Syndrome, and highlight their maximum potential and skills to become productive and active members in the community through social activities, sports and education.
We aspire to reach the best achievements of people with Down Syndrome at local, Gulf, Arab and international levels, and achieve our slogan ” disability is a potential not a deficiency”
Goals
• Increase awareness in the community
• Integrate people with Down Syndrome in community to be participants and producers
• Develop and follow-up educational programs in the regular schools
• Discover their potential and develop their skills through sports, cultural activities and social programs
• Prepare multidimensional programs involving parents friends and decision-makers in the community
• Offering advice based on research and latest trends
• Improve the quality of their lines and define their rights and work for their interests
• Cooperate with other institutions and associations with the same goals to Establish a database of people with Down Syndrome people in the UAE
• Holding conferences and seminars to exchange experiences with institutions interested in the affairs of Down Syndrome from inside and outside UAE
