Dubai City That Cares
Dubai the City that Cares is an annual campaign lead by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a humanitarian initiative and determination to organize charity, social and commercial events. This year it will last 40 days starting from 2nd of October up to the 10th of November 2005. In line with the campaign entertainment, social, sports and charity events will take place in shopping malls reflecting the spirit of the holy month and initiating people to care.DCC campaign dedicates the role of the Chamber and its policy in developing the business environment and retail sector in Dubai during the Holy Month of Ramadan & Eid. This promotional campaign is part of DCCI’s strategy in serving the business community, and the main objectives of the campaign are activating the retail sector within the city, creating more awareness about the charity work, and to highlight the humanitarian face of Dubai.
The campaign aims to create an awareness on the voluntary work, one of the major charity events being the "we care competition", which will be organized in cooperation with four colleges and universities that include the American University in Dubai, Dubai University College, Dubai Women’s College and Dubai Police Academy. In this competition, each college will be working closely with one of the campaign’s beneficiaries to create awareness about their causes and run fund raising activities. "Join me parade" is another charity event that will take place in the shopping malls to raise money through SMS.
The entertainment events include competitions and workshops which will be organized during the campaign beside the traditional folklore shows presented by folklore groups from Arab and Islamic countries. And social events targeting ladies will be organized in cooperation with Dubai Ladies Club. Also, Sports events and competitions like Zayed Chess Championship, Dubai Club for Special Sports and Belremaitha Club activities will be hosted during DCC 2005.
The beneficiaries of DCC 2005 campaign are the UAE Red Crescent, United Nations World Food Program, Dubai Charity Association and Al- Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs.
