Department Of Tourism And Commerce Marketing Suggestion Scheme "SMART"
Department of Tourism And Commerce Marketing recognizes the importance of fostering innovation as one of its values in order to help achieving quality goals of the Department by encouraging involment of employees and customers as well.To do this, DTCM has an in-house suggestion scheme call “SMART” where employees and customers are encouraged to make suggestions that could improve the working of the department or bring forward new ideas that could enhance the products or services delivered to customers.
The goals of the suggestion scheme are: To encourage employee involvement. To promote the development of all staff. To encourage greater productivity and creativity. To promote a “can do” attitude. To promote DTCM as a customer focused organization. To present rewards and recognitions for all accepted ideas and suggestions.
Procedure Internal Suggestion (Employees:) Assessment Employee to submit the suggestion through the system using the form available.
The committee to assess the merit of the suggestion, during the weekly meetings.
Once the scheme committee has assessed the suggestion, the suggestion will be sent to the relevant department .
The relevant department will be evaluating the suggestion and return the suggestion back to the committee with their recommendation which include: A. Reject the suggestion. B. Accept the suggestion.
If the suggestion is rejected then the following steps take place: The committee reviews the reason for rejection during the weekly meetings. If the reason is accepted the committee will inform the suggester on the rejection of the suggestion If the reason is not accepted then during the weekly meetings the committee will re-evaluate the suggestion and resend it to the concerned department (to follow through the same previous procedures) If the suggestion is accepted then the following steps will take place: The committee will inform the suggester that the suggestion is accepted The committee will evaluate the extend of the reward to be given to the suggester (during weekly meetings) Suggestion will either be implemented or planned for a later stage. Once the later stage of implementation comes the Quality is to follow up on the implementation. If the suggestion is still not implemented then Quality procedures are to be taken.
Rewarding The suggestion shall be assessed according to a number of elements comprising the level of enhancement and development, extent of innovation and creation, easy implementation of the suggestion, the employee’s effort, and indirect impact of such suggestion and the extent of clearance (Ref: Evaluation From on HR folder).
The suggestion shall receive points for each element. The points will be determined through the committee’s assessment of the suggestion.
Gifts and Certificates: Gifts and Certificates be given to suggestions, included in employee file and taken into consideration for the employees’ annual appraisals.
Annual Awards: These award are granted to the most creative and active employees in the Suggestion Scheme. The winners shall be selected on the basis of the total number of points accumulated during the year. The first three winners (according to the number of points) shall obtain financial rewards and appreciation certificates.
